Final Exam Reflective Essay
About Lexi
Lexi became a very strong reader by being read to as a child, and also by being taught throughout many years of schooling. It is very important to know how to read just to get through everyday life. In Lexi's day to day life she reads road signs, menus at restaurants, the board at school, books, text messages, and many other things. In order to be a good reader Lexi reads books to become a stronger and faster reader and also to strengthen her vocabulary. It is important to have a wide range of vocabulary in order to understand what you are reading. Reading will become easier as you practice it. Reading came easier to Lexi the more her parents and teachers practiced and worked on it with her. It also became easier the more she enjoyed what she was reading because she was more engaged in it and payed better attention. That leads into what makes reading hard for Lexi, which is when she is reading something that doesn't grasp her attention. If the text isn't interesting then she has no desire to read it, which makes reading hard for her. When choosing a book to read, she reads the back of the book or the preview of the book to see if it's something that she would be interested in reading. The qualities that Lexi looks for in a book are an eventful story line, mystery, suspense, and sometimes a love story. She doesn't read books at home very often due to not having a lot of free time, however once in a while she will fit one in. In general Lexi feels that reading is important but she does not always enjoy it.
Lexi is a pretty decent writer, however she doesn't enjoy it as much as she does reading. She learned to write by being taught by many different teachers and through practice. Lexi believes that the main reason people write is to tell a story and to inspire and entertain others. Another reason might be to let out your feelings. She doesn't think that there is a specific thing your have to do in order to be a good writer. Outside of using proper grammar, all Lexi needs to be a good writer is an idea and something to write on. As a writer, Lexi likes to write about her personal experiences and things that she can easily relate to. When people are responding to her writing she likes for them to be completely honest and tell her what she thinks. Candy coating it won't make her a better writer. She never writes at home but she enjoys to once in a while in school. In general Lexi is proud of everything she rights regardless of what anybody else thinks.
